  • Avoid costly, extended, unplanned downtime due to legacy computer failing unexpectedly!
  • Improve performance of applications, sometimes dramatically, by running them on a new, faster computer platform with faster disks, memory & network!
  • Go Green! Free up expensive computer room floor space and reduce computer room heating & cooling costs!
  • Eliminate expensive legacy computer maintenance cost!
  • No Source Code Required!
  • Avoid a costly software rewrite that may never be successful.
  • Enable utilization of new computer technologies such as SAN, RAID, Disk Mirroring & Gigabit networking that were simply not around when the legacy computer was being manufactured.
  • Greatly speed up backups and reliability of backups by using new tape or optical technology for backups.
  • Virtualize not only the legacy computer I/O boards but any third party legacy hardware I/O boards with customized TITAN software and the TITAN I/O interface.

TITAN VM (Virtual Machine)

The TITAN VM product virtualizes numerous different types of computers including the following:

  • Mil-Std-1750A (Air Force processor)
  • L-304 (Litton computer processor used on E2C)
  • CYBER 170 (Supercomputer)
  • Z-8002 (Zilog 8002 used in a lot of airborne applications)
  • EHSP ASPRO (signal processor)
  • IBM AP101F & 4 PI (both from the same processor family successor to the IBM 360)
  • AYK-14 (Navy F18 aircraft mission computer)
  • TI-2520 (Texas Instruments similar to the Mil-Std-1750A)
  • AAMP (Rockwell Collins commercial processor)
  • HP-1000 (RTE Real Time Operating System)
  • Milli/131 (E2C bit sliced processor)
  • CLC (designed by Bell Labs)

The TITAN VM provides a software based virtual computer identical in function to the existing, original, legacy computer. TITAN VM enables the old, legacy operating system and all of the legacy applications to be migrated over to the new computer environment with no changes at all! System disks or tapes become files or virtual disks and appear to the OS as the original disk or tape drive. If any peripherals such as serial ports or Ethernet ports are required, they are mapped to the new host computer system. If there are some I/O boards whether they be third party or the original computer manufacturer's the I/O boards are virtualized in software and the TITAN I/O module is used to enable physical connections to existing wiring and to precisely match I/O timing.

TITAN VM (Virtual Machine) PLUS

Includes Faster Dynamic Instruction Translation type virtualization of the following computing platforms:

  • PowerPC (made by Motorola and IBM)
  • I960 (Intel RISC processor)
  • 80X86 (80286 I/O coprocessor)
  • 68060 (Used on the F15 fighter jet and other applications)
The TITAN VM PLUS provides a software based virtual computer identical in function to the existing, original, legacy computer with the additional function over the TITAN VMS of Dynamic Instruction Translation to speed processing. TITAN VM PLUS enables the old, legacy operating system and all of the legacy applications to be migrated over to the new computer environment with no changes at all!

TITAN XP (eXPort - Application Translator)

The TITAN XP product provides binary application translation of legacy programs to the new environment without source code. Once migrated to the new environment software tools are provided to enable addition of new code into the new environment.

  • Avoid costly, extended, unplanned downtime due legacy computer failing unexpectedly!
  • Dramatically improve aspects of applications by them running on a new, faster computer platform with faster disks, memory & networking!
  • Go Green! Free up expensive computer room floor space and reduce computer room heating & cooling costs!
  • Eliminate expensive legacy computer maintenance cost!
  • No Source Code Required!
  • Defer a costly software rewrite that may never be successful.
  • Enable utilization of new computer technologies such as SAN, RAID, Disk Mirroring & Gigabit networking that were simply not around when the legacy computer was being manufactured.
  • Greatly speed up backups and reliability of backups by using new tape or optical technology for backups.
  • Virtualize not only the legacy computer but any third party legacy hardware with customized TITAN software and the TITAN IO interface

The TITAN XP is available for the following computer environments (other environments can be added for a fee):

  • MIPS IV Irix (SGI OS)
  • Alpha Tru64 UNIX
  • SPARC - Prototype in development

TITAN IO (Configurable Input Output Interface Hardware)

When virtualizing a computer platform there are often real-world hard-wired connections to peripheral, test or control hardware which need to be maintained and interfaced to the new virtual computer system. Salem Automation provides the TITAN IO configurable I/O module with a real- time operating system to enable physical wiring interface and precise timing replication of the original system. The TITAN IO includes MIL- STD-1553, 10/100BT Ethernet and Gigabit Fiber Ethernet industry standard interfaces. These ports can be interfaced to custom wiring harnesses or adapter modules to match any customer application. TITAN IO software for protocol conversion, filtering and buffering of data can all be programmed to suit a particular user application.
